We've added a new "Frequently Asked Questions" folder to the Culkin School Yahoo! Group to help answer questions you may not be able to find on the website.  Currently, there are detailed answers to questions on ordering Culkin School costumes and Irish dance competitions.

Go to the FAQS folder for more information on these topics.  You must be a member of our Yahoo! group to access the files.

Show Sign Up Information

The Culkin School is implementing a new  Yahoo! Groups based system to to tell our students about upcoming performance opportunities, and for dancers to sign up for those shows that will work with your schedule. We've added a Show Sign Up Information page to the website that explains how to use the new system.  Take a look!

Frequently Asked Questions

A HUGE thank you to Jenny Ramarui for holding meetings at Trinity in Bethesda for new dancers and parents in regards to ordering school costumes and learning about Feiseanna (Irish dance competitions). If you were unable to attend these meetings held prior to our Spring Break, please feel free to access the FAQ sheets that were put together to help guide you as much as possible.

Comhaltas Feis Registration

UPDATE:  The feis filled in 6.5 hours and is already CLOSED. 

Just a reminder that registration for the Comhaltas (CCE) Feis opens TOMORROW.... April 2 at 8:00 AM (according to the CCE Feis site).  This feis has filled very quickly in the past -- in hours, not days -- so if you're planning to sign up, make sure you sign up soon after it opens.

DC Parade Update

We have our placement for the DC St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 16 -- Section B, Unit 30.

Culkin YouTube Channel features new videos!

In the last week or so, we've added a host of new videos to our YouTube channel -- some recent, as well as some "vintage" performances from 2000 and 2001.  Featured are videos from the December 2007 Kennedy Center Millennium Stage St. Stephen's Day show.

"Irish Dance March Madness" Kicks Off

A hugely successful show at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage kicked off the Culkin School's Irish Dance March Madness.  There are host of upcoming shows, parades and other events, so be sure to check in here and through the Yahoo! Group for the latest info.

Join the Culkin Adults at Shamrockfest

Looking for a great St. Patrick's Weekend festival close to home?  Check out the 2008 Shamrockfest at RFK Stadium in DC on Saturday, March 15.

Our own Culkin Adult Irish Dancers kick off the day's entertainment on the VIP Stage (21+Over only, tickets required... sorry) at 1:00 PM.  For information on tickets, as well as the full festival lineup, including performances from Scythian, Carbon Leaf and Great Big Sea, check out the Shamrockfest website

Registration Open for Summer Programs

Back by popular demand! Culkin School summer programs at Glen Echo and at Hughes.  New this year -- Hughes camps for our returning students. Classes start in July and continue through August. Each individual camp runs for about two weeks.

Good Luck at All Irelands!

Best wishes to Allie P who is traveling to Ireland to represent the Culkin School at the Oireachtas Rince na Eireann (All Irelands) in February.  The competition will be held February 9 to 17 in Killarney.  More than 4000 dancers are expected to compete this year and we're proud that Allie will be representing the school.

Registration Open For Spring 2008 Mini-mester

The Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance offers introductory "mini-mesters" to new students.  These courses are a great introduction to Irish dancing for you and your child. The "mini-mesters" fill up fast and are a lot of fun. Concepts covered include beginner reel and jig steps and a fun introduction to ceili dances.  No special shoes are required for this class.

Rockville Mini-mester: Sessions will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 4629 Aspen Hill Road on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 4:45 pm beginning April 1 to June 3. (10 weeks) ~ CLASS FULL

Kensington Mini-mester: Sessions will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 10401 Armory Avenue, from 3:30 to 4:15 pm beginning April 3 to June 5. (10 weeks) ~ CLASS FULL

Let's hear it for the boys!

On Sunday, January 6, some of the Culkin School's boys performed at the Auld Shebeen pub for a fundraiser hosted by CCE Potomac for area musician Danny Doyle.
