Culkin School Family Ceili-bration and Wine Raffle
(Last Updated 9/26/09)
Join us in celebrating the start of a new school year at the Family ceili-bration! You and your entire family can experience an authentic
Irish Ceili! Traditional live music, step dancing AND set dancing, and let’s
not forget the Guinness! Don’t miss out on some good Irish craic (Gaelic
for fun!) !
What is a Ceili-bration?
Ceili is the Irish word for "social
dance," and in Ireland, ceilis are the hub of the social scene. At the
Culkin School, we hold "ceili-brations" to celebrate our dancing, our
families and our friendships. Less formal than a recital, ceili-brations are still
great places to have family and friends see you dance.
Throughout the night, our dancers will be
called to the floor by level to perform steps they learned in classes.
In between, our instructors will lead everyone
(yes... EVERYONE!) in group or ceili dances. And we'll have two
raffles as well. There will be food, a cash bar and lots of fun. Please plan to join us!

***TICKET INFORMATION***
There are no physical "tickets" for the Ceili-bration, but we will keep a list of people at the door who have already paid. Starting Monday, September 28, you can sign up in class with your teachers or reserve your spot via email by sending a message to Jean Ross -- see the flyer in class for her email and phone number!
How can I help?
Half of the fun of events like this is getting to know other people in the
school by helping out. Plus, we need many hands to pull it off.
If you'd like to help, here are some of the ways you can:
Secure a donation for a silent raffle: Ask your favorite store or restaurant to donate an item or a gift certificate. Please five all donations to your instructor by October 22.
Offer to sell tickets for the wine raffle tickets to family and friends.
Contribute to the pot luck: the school will provide the ham and rolls, but we need sides, salads and desserts as well. Please sign up in class if you can bring something.
Volunteer to man a table. We'll need people to work the
door, clothing sales, ticket sales, etc. If you can staff a shift, please sign up in class or contact Jean Ross (see the flyer in class for contact information).
The Wine Raffle is Back! What is it? A fun way to take a chance to win your own "wine cellar"?
What do you do? Donate a bottle of wine. Bring your favorite brand, one with a silly name or an extra one you have at home and leave it with your instructor before June 4.
Buy and sell raffle tickets! They are $5 each and 6 for $25. The ticket envelopes will be available in class -- put your money and ticket stubs inside and take ones if you think you can sell them!
What you'll get... The winning ticket gets at least 25 bottles of wine. We usually collect between 50 to 100! The more bottles we collect, the more "winners" as we'll pull more than one ticket. The raffle will be held at the Ceili-bration, but the winner need NOT be present to win.
