About the School

The Culkin School was founded in 1997 and currently enrolls more than 400 students. My goal for the school is to preserve the unique tradition of Irish music and dance and pass it on to new generations of dancers. Competition and performance are not the focus of the school, but we will prepare our students so that they will be able to compete and perform with success and pride. A secondary goal of the school is to share Irish music and dance with the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area community by participating in a variety of local events and performances.

Culkin School Mission

Our mission is to pass on the tradition of Irish Dance, teach the basics of dance and the music it is danced to and to have fun while we learn.  While competition is not the sole focus of our school, we prepare our students who wish to compete so that they can do so to the best of their ability.  If a dancer chooses not to compete, we provide many opportunities for them to utilize the skills they have learned by participating in ceilis and/or performances scheduled throughout the year.
